In the run-up to the municipal elections, Ifop for L’Indépendant asked Carcassonne voters about the political climate in the town.
In the first round, the Rassemblement National list led by Christophe Barthès would come out on top with 26.5% of voting intentions. It would be closely followed by the Divers droite list led by François Mourad and supported by Horizons (25.5%) and the Union de la gauche list led by Alix Soler-Alcaraz (25%). Further back, the Divers droite list led by Gérard Larrat would reach 17%, a level that could enable it to maintain its position in the second round and influence the electoral balance. Lastly, the France insoumise list would garner 6% of voting intentions.
In the event of a three-way tie in the second round, the left-wing union list led by Alix Soler-Alcaraz would come out on top with 34% of voting intentions, ahead of François Mourad’s list (33.5%) and Christophe Barthès’ (32.5%). These results show that the balance of power between the three blocs is extremely tight, pointing to a particularly open and uncertain election.
