To coincide with the Forum économique des banlieues 2025, held on November 27 and 28, Ifop has produced a new wave of its survey on the economic dynamism of the suburbs. This updated survey measures both the economic potential of these areas and the levers of attractiveness they have identified.

A major new feature of this edition is a mirror survey that cross-references the views of the general public with those of residents of a priority urban development district (QPV), highlighting the gaps and points of convergence in representations of the local economic fabric, employment, entrepreneurship and development prospects of the suburbs.

Key figures:

  • 45% of French people believe that the suburbs or QPVs are the areas most affected by economic crises (58% of QPV residents)
  • 58% of French people believe that the public authorities are not doing enough for “La France des banlieues” (+6 pts vs 2024)
  • 56% of French people believe that job creation would be the main positive impact for the country of an increase in the number of companies located in the suburbs
