The April 2026 wave of the Ifop-Fiducial barometer for Paris Match and Sud Radio is characterized by an overall downward trend. In a ranking where only 15 personalities are either down or stable from one month to the next, regression clearly dominates.
Michel-Édouard Leclerc (51%, +1) remains in first place, just ahead of Dominique de Villepin (50%, +3). While the composition of the Top 5 remains unchanged from the previous month – with Jean-Louis Borloo (47%, -1), Édouard Philippe (47%, -2) and Sébastien Lecornu (44%, -3) – its order changes slightly: in March, Michel-Édouard Leclerc was ahead of Édouard Philippe, Jean-Louis Borloo, Dominique de Villepin, then Sébastien Lecornu.
One month after the municipal elections, the popularity of the main candidates concerned is slightly eroding. Benoît Payan (28%, -1, 42nd) and Emmanuel Grégoire (31%, -1, 30th) lost points, as did Catherine Trautmann (32%, -3, 27th), who dropped two places. Tested for the first time, the mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko (36%), moves into 22nd place, well ahead of party leaders such as Olivier Faure (32%, +1, 29th) Jean-Luc Mélenchon (29%; +2; 38th), or Marine Tondelier (27%, -2, 48th).
This wave was also marked by the rise of several right-wing and far-right figures. Gérald Darmanin (44%, +4) climbed to sixth place, gaining five places and recording the barometer’s biggest rise. Marion Maréchal (42%, +3) becomes the highest-ranking woman (8th), moving up eight places. Other personalities such as Michel Barnier (41%, +1, 10th) and Bruno Retailleau (40%, +2, 11th) are also on the rise. Conversely, some right-wing figures fell back: Xavier Bertrand (37%, -3, 19th) dropped six places, while Éric Ciotti (36%, -2, 20th) and Valérie Pécresse (29%, -4, 37th) also saw their popularity decline.
April proved a poor month for former and current Presidents of the Republic. Emmanuel Macron (30%, -1, 32nd) recorded a slight drop, while Nicolas Sarkozy (36%, -7, 21st) and François Hollande (42%, -3, 9th) suffered more marked declines. However, Hollande remains the highest-ranked left-wing politician.
Finally, unlike Marion Maréchal, the other leaders of the Rassemblement National were also down. Jordan Bardella (42%, -2, 7th), despite the revelation of his love affair with Maria Carolina de Bourbon des Deux-Siciles, saw his popularity level fall, but retained 7th place in the ranking. Marine Le Pen (38%, -2, 16th) falls two places.
