In the run-up to the municipal elections, Ifop-Fiducial for Sud Radio and La Provence asked residents of Aix-en-Provence about the city’s political climate.
In the first round, the list led by Sophie Joissains and supported by the UDI would garner 34% of voting intentions, well ahead of the left-wing union list led by Marc Pena, credited with 21%, and the Rassemblement National list led by Jean-Louis Geiger, which would obtain 20% of voting intentions. Further back, the list led by Julie Boronad would achieve 10%, which could enable it to maintain its position in the second round. The lists led by Philippe Klein and Mounir Ben Ammar would respectively garner 8% and 7% of voting intentions.
Almost two-thirds of voters (62%) said they were sure of their choice, while over a third (37%) said they could still change their mind between now and the vote.
In the event of a four-way tie in the second round, the list led by Sophie Joissains would retain a slight advantage with 37% of voting intentions, ahead of the list led by Marc Pena (35%). The Rassemblement National list (Jean-Louis Geiger) would come third with 18%, followed by Philippe Klein’s list (10%). For the time being, these results confirm the advantage of the outgoing municipal majority, but the ballot remains open and its outcome uncertain.
