Collection methodology
The research methodology selected consists of two components: a qualitative component and a quantitative component.
As part of the qualitative component, 14 French parents were interviewed between March 2 and 16, 2026, including:
- 7 “first-time parents,” that is, parents of a single child under the age of 3.
- And 7 “experienced parents,” defined as parents with multiple children, including at least one under the age of three.
A total of 7 men and 7 women from different regions and socioeconomic backgrounds were interviewed. Among them, 8 parents used a private or public daycare center, and 4 used a child care provider. Among these 14 people were also 4 blended families, 1 same-sex parent family, and 1 single-parent family.
As part of the quantitative component, the survey was conducted among 1,148 parents of a child enrolled in a Babilou Family Group daycare center (located in Germany, Belgium, Colombia, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United States).
This survey was initiated by Babilou Family. Babilou Family distributed the survey link via an email to all of its contacts. The interviews were conducted using a self-administered online questionnaire from March 26 to April 20, 2026.
