IFOP-Endrix, on behalf of L’Opinion, measured the popularity of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister in July.
First, as we saw last month, the President’s approval rating has risen: 23% of French people say they are satisfied with Emmanuel Macron (+2 points compared to June and +3 points compared to May).
The highest level of satisfaction continues to be concentrated among his electoral base: 97% of Renaissance supporters say they are satisfied (+5 points compared to June), as do 67% of his voters from the first round of the 2022 presidential election (+6 points). In addition, the President’s approval rating has risen among women (27%, up 7 points), among 18- to 24-year-olds (31%, up 7 points), and among those aged 65 and older (33%, up 6 points).
At the same time, dissatisfaction remains widespread, although it has declined: 77% of French people say they are dissatisfied with Emmanuel Macron (-2 points). This dissatisfaction remains particularly high among supporters of the National Rally (92%), and among voters who supported Marine Le Pen (94%) and Éric Zemmour (97%) in 2022.
In contrast, the Prime Minister’s approval rating is declining: 30% of French people say they are satisfied with Sébastien Lecornu (down 2 points from June), compared with 70% who say they are dissatisfied (up 2 points).
Satisfaction with him remains highest among the president’s core supporters: 99% of Renaissance supporters and 73% of Emmanuel Macron’s voters in the first round of the 2022 presidential election say they are satisfied. Supporters of Les Républicains also remain among the most satisfied (64%). Satisfaction is also rising among Socialist Party supporters (43%, up 19 points), executives (37%, up 5 points), and business leaders (35%, up 5 points).
Conversely, dissatisfaction remains very high among supporters of La France Insoumise (93%), the National Rally (86%), as well as among voters for Jean-Luc Mélenchon (81%) and Marine Le Pen (82%) in 2022. It is rising particularly among the unemployed (+14 points) and employees (+8 points).
