IFOP-Endrix for L’Opinion measured the popularity of the French President and Prime Minister in April.nnWe note a slight drop in the President’s popularity rating: 22% of French people say they are satisfied with Emmanuel Macron (-1 point compared to March). This decline comes against a particularly tense international backdrop, marked by the conflict in Iran. The rise in fuel prices continues to provoke discontent among the French.nnThe highest levels of satisfaction are logically concentrated within its electoral base (88%). The biggest increases were also seen among Ecologist sympathizers, up 8 points on March.nnAt the same time, the harshest judgments are on the rise: “very dissatisfied” now stands at 49% (+3 points). The rise in dissatisfaction is particularly marked among 35-49 year-olds (+8 points).nnThe Prime Minister’s popularity rating is down sharply: 32% of French people (-4 points compared to March) say they are satisfied with Sébastien Lecornu. Sébastien Lecornu’s low profile in the political landscape is causing dissatisfaction among a majority of French people. Once again, the French are feeling the pinch from rising fuel prices, but they are also worried about the government’s message of the need to maintain the budgetary trajectory despite the difficulties affecting their purchasing power.nnThe highest level of satisfaction also remains within the President’s electoral base (87%), and favorable opinions have increased among supporters of the Prime Minister’s former party Les Républicains (+7 points).nnConversely, supporters of the Rassemblement National are increasingly dissatisfied with the Prime Minister (+3 points on March).nnThe main topics of conversation among the French this week are the rise in fuel prices (67%), the ceasefire negotiations between the USA and Iran (50%) and Céline Dion’s return to the stage in autumn 2026 (49%).
